The complete move

Your whole house moves with you, room by room

With us a private move is a complete move of your home: from the bookcase in the loft to the china in the kitchen cupboard. Our experienced team packs, lifts, drives and puts your furniture back together in the new home, so you do not have to haul anything yourself and you are not living among the boxes. We move people living alone out of a flat or a studio (15 to 20 m³), couples (25 to 30 m³) and families with children out of a family house with a loft and a garden (40 to 45 m³). A piano or grand piano travels safely along as well, a speciality of ours. Are you leaving the family home for something smaller? Then a seniors relocation is the calmer route, with more taken off your hands.

It starts with a free home survey, a short visit of about 20 minutes: our adviser walks through the rooms with you, looks at the stairs, the pavement and the spot for the van, and within one working day you have a fixed quote. On moving day your furniture goes into moving blankets and fragile items into tissue paper or bubble wrap. Dismantling and assembly are simply included in the price, and if a cabinet will not fit through the stairwell it comes apart.

What is fixed, and what you run through with us

With a private move the most important things are fixed beforehand: the price, the insurance and everything that is included. There are a few choices you run through with us. Then you know it before the van pulls up, not afterwards.

This is fixed

  • A fixed quote within one working day. After the free home survey you know exactly what your move costs, and that amount is set.
  • Insured up to 100,000 euros, with no excess. At replacement value, for your household contents and for both homes, across the whole job. A scratch on the new floor is covered as well.
  • Dismantling and assembly are in the price. Your bed, wardrobe and table come apart and stand assembled again in the new home, at no extra cost.
  • Boxes, packing paper and labels free on loan. We bring them to your home beforehand by arrangement and collect them again as soon as you let us know. No hire charge and no deposit.

This you run through with us

  • Pack yourself, or have it packed? If our team packs everything for you, that is usually done in one day. Unpacking in the new home is possible as well.
  • What comes along? Whatever does not have to come does not have to be carried either: fewer cubic metres means less work and a lower price.
  • Exceptional pieces? We schedule a piano or grand piano separately. Art and objects of exceptional value are covered up to 20,000 euros; if a piece is worth more, tell us beforehand so we can make a separate arrangement.
  • Is there time between handover and keys? Then we store your household contents for up to 12 months under the same cover, in our own warehouse on the Izaäk Enschedéweg in Haarlem.

Your moving date really is fixed with us: we have in fact never missed a moving day. Our vans are our own and all comprehensively insured, with our own drivers behind the wheel. And the spot in front of the door? Our adviser already looked at that during the survey; we take care of the application with the council and advise on what is needed for your street.

Four things you want to know beforehand

Anyone looking for a moving company wants to know four things: what does it cost, what happens if something is damaged, how are my belongings protected, and who arranges the spot for the van. We answer all four below.

What does a private move cost?

The price depends on the number of cubic metres, the distance and the type of home. As a guide, from our own price calculator: small household contents of about 20 m³ cost around 1,400 euros within the region, family contents of about 40 m³ around 2,720 euros, including VAT. And if something does get damaged?

Across the country the damage rate at Erkende Verhuizers (the Dutch recognised-mover accreditation) is 1.07 per cent. If it does happen, you report it straight away and in writing, with photos, and we settle it within the cover: up to 100,000 euros at replacement value, with no excess. How we protect your belongings

Furniture goes into moving blankets that we keep using for years, fragile items into tissue paper or bubble wrap. Our moving boxes are a good deal sturdier than DIY-store boxes, so nothing tears or drops on the way. And whatever we pack is entirely our responsibility.

The parking spot and the council, off your mind

A removal van in front of the door in Haarlem soon means narrow streets and paid parking. At the free home survey our adviser looks at the pavement and the spot for the van, takes care of the application with the council and advises on what is needed for your street. If the van does have to stand further along, we count that walking distance into the quote beforehand.

What does a private move cost?

That depends on the number of cubic metres, the distance and the type of home. As an indication, from our own price calculator: small household contents of about 20 m³ cost around 1,400 euros within the region, a family move of about 40 m³ around 2,720 euros, including VAT. After the free home survey, a short visit of about 20 minutes, you have a fixed quote within one working day. That amount is set, so there are no surprises afterwards. Do you also pack and unpack everything for me?

Yes. Our team packs your whole house, usually in one day, and unpacking in the new home is possible as well. Read more about our packing service.

Are my belongings insured during the move?

Can my household contents go into storage between two homes?

Yes. If there is time between the handover and the keys, we store your household contents for up to 12 months under the same cover, in our own climate-controlled storage on the Izaäk Enschedéweg in Haarlem.

Longer than 12 months is possible too; we then make a separate arrangement about that.

Who arranges the parking spot for the removal van?

We take that off your hands: we take care of the application with the council and advise on what is needed for your street. Our adviser looks at the pavement and the spot for the van during the free home survey. We pass on the council fees.

If the van cannot stand right in front of the door, we count that walking distance into the quote beforehand. Exactly how such a permit works in Haarlem is explained on our removal van permit page. The same applies when the moving lift has to stand on the road.

Do you also move at the weekend?

Yes, Saturday and Sunday are possible, for a surcharge. During the week the day makes no difference to the price, so you simply choose the day that suits you.
