Too narrow for the stairs? Then it goes through the window

A moving lift puts your belongings on the right floor from the outside: the platform runs up along the façade and stops exactly at your window or balcony. Our lift reaches the 8th floor and lifts 400 kilos. That keeps the sofa, the washing machine and your stairwell in one piece. Haarlem stairwells are often narrow, certainly in the centre, and then the window is the sensible way out.

The lift belongs with a full removal, but you can also hire it on its own, always with an operator: we take a single item with our object service for 200 euros including VAT, and hiring the lift on the day you move yourself costs 200 euros including VAT for the first hour and 120 euros for each further hour. We charge no call-out fee. Roofers, furniture shops and awning firms use our lifts too, and for narrow alleys and back gardens we have a compact Geda lift.

Your household contents are insured on the lift just as well as in the van: up to 100,000 euros at replacement value, with no excess, at both addresses.

What is fixed, and what you settle with us

Hiring a moving lift need not bring any surprises. Below is what is fixed with us and what we run through together before the lift day. Then you know where you stand before the lift is parked at your façade.

  • The lift reaches the 8th floor and lifts 400 kilos, through a window or balcony as well.
  • Always an experienced mover on site who sets up and operates the lift; that is included in the rate.
  • Fixed quote up front, within one working day of the free home survey; that amount stands.
  • Insured up to 100,000 euros at replacement value, with no excess, the whole way: on the lift as well.

This you settle with us

  • What you need: just the lift for a single item, the lift for a few hours, or the full removal with movers as well.
  • Where the lift will stand: pavement, parking bay or alley, and whether the van can reach the door. Our adviser looks at this during the survey.
  • What the council wants: in Haarlem a traffic plan or a temporary parking permit rather than an exemption. We file it in full for you and pass on the council fees.
  • The date and the time: on a weekday, or by arrangement in the evening or at the weekend; a surcharge applies then.

If the lift takes up road or cycle-path space, Haarlem wants a traffic plan through the LTC platform, filed at least three weeks beforehand. We arrange that in full for you; we pass on the council fees. Cones and the through traffic closed sign are in our van as standard.

Evening, weekend and urgent work

Evenings and weekends are possible by arrangement, for a surcharge. Urgent work costs nothing extra with us: if the sofa that has just been delivered is still downstairs, we charge the same rate as for a planned job.

How the lift gets onto a Haarlem street

In the Haarlem old town the houses stand narrow and deep, with a staircase that is closer to a ladder. The moving lift is the answer there, but it soon stands on the public road, and then the council wants it settled beforehand. What does hiring a moving lift in Haarlem cost?

Taking a single item up or down with our object service costs 200 euros including VAT. If you hire the lift for longer, you pay 200 euros including VAT for the first hour and 120 euros for each further hour, operation included. We charge no call-out fee in Haarlem and the surrounding area.

If the lift belongs with a full removal, it is in the quote. The home survey is free and within one working day you have a fixed quote; so you know the amount before we arrive.

What does Haarlem council want for a moving lift in the street?

No exemption for the lift itself. What Haarlem does want is a traffic plan, filed through the LTC platform at least three weeks in advance, as soon as the lift or the van takes up road or cycle-path space; every traffic measure has to meet the CROW 96b guideline. If you only want the parking bays outside your door kept free, a temporary parking permit through parkeren.haarlem.nl is enough. We file whichever applies and pass on the council fees.

Everything else that comes with a move in Haarlem is on our city page. The parking permit rates of August 2026: 23.70 euros per half day and 47.45 euros for a whole day in the centre, 13.35 and 26.70 euros in Noord, Zuid, Oost and West. Yes. With our object service we take a single item up or down, a new cabinet for instance, or a sofa that has to go. A WhatsApp photo of the piece and the façade is enough for us to price the job and put it in the diary.

You can also hire the lift for several hours, and if you need it at the old and the new address, the lift travels with you. That holds outside Haarlem as well: what the lift does in Amsterdam, Amstelveen, Zaandam and Alkmaar is set out on its own page.

Do I have to operate the lift myself?

No. An experienced mover always comes along to set up and operate the lift; operation is included in the rate. All you have to do is point out what needs to go.
